Cece’s 10th anniversary Event

Cece’s Rainbow Kids Celebrates 10 Years of Supporting Maidstone Families with Community Anniversary Event

One of Maidstone’s much-loved childcare providers is celebrating a major milestone this month, and everyone is invited to join the party.

Cece’s Rainbow Kids Day Nursery, now based at Lockmeadow Entertainment Centre, is marking its 10th anniversary with a free community celebration on Saturday 11 July at Coronation Square, Lockmeadow from 1pm.

The event will bring together past, present and future nursery families, alongside the wider Maidstone community, to celebrate a decade of nurturing children and supporting local families.

Visitors can enjoy an afternoon packed with family-friendly entertainment, including performances from Hilton Hall Dance Academy, live drummers, a DJ set, children’s activities, face painting and much more.

The celebration will begin from 1pm, with Hilton Hall Dance Academy taking to the stage at approximately 1.30pm, followed by the drummers. A parent from the nursery community will host the event as MC, while the nursery founder’s daughter will provide the soundtrack as DJ, making it a true family celebration.

The anniversary marks an incredible journey that began more than a decade ago when the nursery’s founder, Cecilia Mayne, then working as a nurse, discovered a passion for creating safe, nurturing environments while helping friends with childcare.

With the support of her mother-in-law, she opened the nursery from the front room of her home. What started as a small family setting, filled with warmth and laughter, quickly grew through word of mouth. Friends Diana, Peter and Filipa later joined the team, helping to build the high-quality childcare setting that so many Maidstone families know today.

As demand increased, the nursery expanded to Queens Road during the challenges of the COVID pandemic, providing stability and trusted childcare for local families when it mattered most. In January 2026, continued growth led to its move to Lockmeadow Entertainment Centre, allowing the nursery to welcome even more children into a modern, vibrant space.

Over the past ten years, Cece’s Rainbow Kids has cared for approximately 300 children, becoming an integral part of Maidstone’s childcare community and building lasting relationships with generations of local families.

Reflecting on the milestone, the nursery’s founder, Cecilia Mayne said:

“What started as helping friends with childcare became something far bigger than I ever imagined. Every child who has come through our doors has become part of our story, and every family has helped shape who we are today. Celebrating ten years is incredibly special and we would love everyone who has been part of our journey – as well as those who are yet to join us – to celebrate with us.”

The anniversary event is open to everyone and promises an afternoon of entertainment, community spirit and family fun, celebrating not only ten successful years in business but also the people who have helped make Cece’s Rainbow Kids such an important part of Maidstone.
